Thomas served in the War of 1812. He served with Captain Dabney's 43rd Infantry, as a private, and was discharged on August 1815. For hisserv ice he was granted a patent on 160 acres of land in Illinois. Thomasan d Jemima, with her borthers Moses, Caleb, and Elijah went to SumnerCoun ty, Tennessee. In 1820 Thomas's daughter Elizabeth married John P.Hoga n Pritchett in Sumner Co. The entire Thomas Rimmer family (Thomas, Elizabeth and John Pritchett,P hoebe and Ambrose Houser, Benjamin Rimmer and Moses Jacobs) moved toMad ison County , Illinois before 1828.
