Notes: Robert Hutchins was a mariner. He maintained homes in England and Virgi nia. He owned land on the lower James River near where present day Newp ort News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company was built. William Cox also o wned land in this area; he and Robert Hutchins were not adjacent landow ners, but lived near each other. John Burton also lived in this area, a ll three living in what was at that time called Warwick County. Warwick i s no longer a county; the corporate limits of Newport News, Virginia ap proximately define the boundaries of old Warwick County.
